Hot tips for your next summer party
Summer is here! Longer days, balmy nights and sunshine aplenty. So, why wouldn’t you be planning your next summer bash?
Here are our top tips to make your summer party a complete success.
Serve the right foods
Summer fruits are a must! Watermelon, rockmelon, honeydew, mango and yummy stone fruits like peaches, nectarines and apricots are all in-season and well-priced. Maybe even throw in a few handfuls of fresh berries. Your guests will love it.
You also can’t go past fresh carrot, cucumber and celery sticks with a side of hummus or homemade tomato salsa. A staple party favourite. And, it’s probably best to avoid serving hot dishes like soups, lasagne or stews, which are better saved for the winter months.
Pass the drinks
It’s important to provide a good variety of beverages.Ensure that you provide a good range of alcoholic drinks, plenty of cool water, fresh juices and soft drinks for the non-drinkers.
What if it’s hot?
Perth summers can be amazing, and hot! So, make sure you’re well equipped and your guests are comfortable.Make sure there’s plenty of shade under the patio, or setup some extra market umbrellas and freestanding fans.
You could even roll out an inflatable pool or water mister for those really hot days.If you’ve already got an in-ground pool, have spare towels ready for your guests to use. And if you have a/c, make sure it’s ready to roll.
Rope in some friends
Parties are great, but if you’re running around the entire day – you’re probably not enjoying yourself. Ask some mates to help to alleviate some of the stress and burden.
DIY stations are a big party must right now, and guests love the chance to customise what’s on offer. You could try a self-serve cocktail or gin bar, an ice cream station or even create your own dessert cart.
Make sure your party isn’t overrun with pesky mosquitos. It’s a good idea to arrange some insect repellent, citronella candles or mosquito coils.
Stock the bathrooms
Yes, your party will mostly be outside, but friends will still need to use the bathroom. You can enhance your space with nice hand soaps, hand towels and maybe even a little cologne or perfume for that extra touch
If people have been drinking, so make sure they can get home safely. Uber, taxi or public transport are all potential options to get your friends home safely. Remember to keep lookout for anyone about to make the mistake of driving home if they have been drinking alcohol.
It’s also a good idea to make up the spare room or lounge if close friends wish to stay the night.
